Vickie Morrow
Hunting and gathering is a joy in my creative process. The next step is hand-crafting parts for my assemblages: tiles and beads, rusted fabric, metal patina, paper and wire for weaving. Finally, all the pieces come together in an assemblage, a vessel or a piece of jewelry appealing to the eye, the heart or a memory.
My creative time is spent making ceramics and handmade tile mosaics, including sculptural pieces, table tops, and residential installations. My public and commercial art includes work in hospitals, freeway pedestrian areas, community centers, resorts, golf clubs and casinos. My work has been exhibited in Scottsdale, Fountain Hills and Sedona, Arizona galleries. I also participated in Hidden in the Hills Studio Tour and the Camelback Studio Tour.
One of my biggest honors and the most fun was being selected to appear on HGTV in an episode of Colorful Kitchens. I was also included with fifty international mosaic artists in Schiffer Publishing’s art coffee table book, Mosaic Art Today.
Having recently moved from Scottsdale to Las Cruces, I like to say I now have a studio with a home attached. I spend time in my backyard rust laboratory and in my studio where I have a fabulous view of the mountains.
